Counting on sheep. For food and livelihood.
Eight-year-old Yuriedy and 11-year-old Jordí live with their cousins, aunt and grandparents on a farm in Guatemala. “In the family we are nine people, and it was difficult for us. We did not have enough money to buy food,” says their aunt, Desideria.
The family also struggled to afford the school supplies the children needed. “We had to go wash clothes in the neighbourhood to get money,” adds Desideria.
Then, about three years ago, everything changed. The family received three sheep from World Vision, thanks to generous donors like you. Yuriedy and Jordí help take care of the sheep, which they both enjoy. “I like to play with the sheep. I tickle them and they start jumping,” says Jordí. He also likes to help shave the sheep for wool, which the family sells at market. Yuriedy, Jordí and their whole family are very grateful for this life-changing gift they received. “Now we are happy because we are better than before,” says Desideria.
