When Esnart’s husband died, her life changed dramatically. Not unlike a wife in Canada, the loss of a husband and father shook her world. And Esnart had her children to care for.

With no immediate source of income, her children dropped out of school to help the family. But thanks to Esnart’s incredible drive and business acumen, combined with the support of World Vision donors, the children are back to their studies.

It all started with a chicken. Well, four chickens and a rooster to be exact.

Within a year of receiving a gift of chickens and a rooster from World Vision’s gift catalogue, Esnart’s hard work had already paid off. Her small farm had multiplied to 200 roosters, 124 chickens and eight baby chicks!

Not done yet, Esnart began to work closely with a World Vision savings group, which helped her start a small business selling fish. She has recently bought a plot of land in town and plans to build some small houses to rent. When donors came together to donate chickens and goats, it started something so much bigger for Esnart and her community.

“God is using me, not just for my well-being, but also for the well-being of others,” she says. Helping others is very important to the Esnart and she teaches this value to her sons and grandson.

“Chickens have given a future to my children,” says Esnart.

When you donate chickens and goats, you are helping build lives and grow communities.
